Ted Smith has been Board Certified in Residential and Commercial Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1983. He holds a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law and attended the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General School, and he is admitted to practice in Texas, Indiana, and several federal courts.
Military service

Ted served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps from 1973 to 1976, including as Chief of the Fort Hood Legal Assistance Office, before opening his private practice in Killeen. His military honors include the Army Commendation Medal and the Liberty Bell Award.

Ted has focused on disability claims for decades: building the medical record, filing at the right stage, and preparing clients for SSA hearings, including video hearings. He also takes extra time to prepare clients for SSA hearings, including the hearings SSA now holds by video.
Community
Elected official and civic leader in Harker Heights.
Ted served as Harker Heights City Attorney and was elected to the Harker Heights City Council. He has chaired the Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Metroplex Hospital Foundation, and Ted and his wife, Caryl, both received the Fort Hood Good Neighbor Award.
